Project Description

Kimlea Clinic, located on the grounds of Kimlea Technical Training Centre, provides medical care to the laborers in the tea plantations and environs. It started as a medical assistance program, at a time when many serious household accidents and illnesses were being reported, and few of the people able to afford medical attention. The then mobile clinic helped to cater for some of these but it was obvious that regular medical help was needed in the area. Through funding from Fundación RODE (Spain), a permanent clinic was built and opened in 2006.  The facility has a fully qualified doctor, nurses, laboratory technician, pharmaceutical technologist and counselor.

Fundación Carmen Gandarias (Spain) is the main sponsor of this project covering all the running expenses of the clinic since 2007.
